HARVARD -- It's time once again to take advantage of the Harvard Lions club annual citrus fruit sale, featuring fresh oranges and grapefruit direct from Florida, picked just days before delivery to Harvard. Treat your family to more of the same great fruit as have been offered in past years while at the same time benefiting Lions charities and local community programs: royal ruby red grapefruit, Valencia oranges.

Both are available in 20-pound and 40-pound boxes ($25 and $38). Or purchase a mixed 20-pound box for $26. The fruit will arrive just in time for this year's sale and be sold on a "cash and carry" basis -- you receive your fruit when you place your order.

The fruit will be available for sale on the following dates:

March 9, March 13 and March 16 at the Harvard transfer station

March 9-10 and March 16-17 at Harvard town center

March 9 and March 16 at the Boxboro transfer station

During the sale period, fruit will be safely stored and refrigerated at Carlson's Orchards to maintain its freshness. The Harvard Lions appreciate the support of the Carlson Family each year for making this event possible and keeping our fruit so fresh.

For those who won't be in town during these dates, order ahead of time by contacting Rick Veltri at rickv@charter.net or call 978 456-8795.

Proceeds from the Harvard Lions Fruit Sale support charities aiding the blind and visually impaired, families with disabled or terminally ill children and many other organizations that help those in need. Proceeds are also donated locally to provide vision and hearing aids and other assistance to needy families in our area, to provide sight and hearing equipment to Harvard schools and to provide support for a range of other town programs and organizations serving our community.
