Townsend's Reed Homestead Open House Dec. 8
Townsend Historical Society's Holiday Open House at the Reed Homestead, 72 Main St. (Route 119) in Townsend will be held Sunday, Dec. 8, from 1-4 p.m.
Tours of the c. 1809 house will tell about the Reed family and why the house is still unspoiled by modern renovations. Visitors will see the hand-painted "wood-grained" woodwork, a sink pump, the working hearth and bee hive oven, the vast clothing collection, and the remarkable Rufus Porter murals.
This event is free of charge, open to the wider community and promises to be enjoyable for children and adults -- the whole family!
Seasonal decorations, a hearth fire, mulled cider and cookies baked in the bee-hive oven all add up to a wonderful way to start the holiday season.
Please call Townsend Historical Society at 978-597-2106 for further information.
