TOWNSEND -- The Townsend Rod and Gun Club is holding a free, kids-only (14 years and younger) fishing derby on Sunday, Sept. 29, at the club pond, 46 Emery Road, Townsend.
The club is located off Route 13, about 1.5 miles south of Townsend center; watch for the signs.
Registration begins at 7 a.m.; fishing is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The kitchen will be open from breakfast time through lunchtime.
Club membership and fishing licenses are not needed. Fishing bait will not be sold, so be sure to stock up before the derby.
The derby will be a perfect day to introduce children to a great fishing experience plus there will be prizes for every child!
The pond will be stocked with rainbow and brown trout and the fish will be hungry!
It promises to be a fun-filled, not-to be-missed day.
