TOWNSEND -- The Townsend Community Couples Club will host the lawn party at the Townsend Military Band's Thursday June 13 concert on the Townsend Common.

The aroma of grilled onions and peppers will fill the air as the Couples Club cooks hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and sausages to sell to those attending the concert.

Fried dough, potato chips, hot coffee and cold soda and bottled water will also be available.

A wide selection of home-baked goods and plants will be offered for sale. Children attending the concert may win prizes by playing a variety of games set up on the Common that evening for their enjoyment.

The Townsend Military Band will open its concert at 7:30 p.m. by playing a fanfare, "America," and "A Song of India" arranged by Lake. The "Second Suite for Military Band in F Major" by Holst, "Rondo" from "Concerto for Clarinet in Bb," arranged by Coles, and the "Overture to Candide" arranged by Beeler will be performed. "The Cardinal," "Themes from Great Italian Movies" arranged by Cacavas and "Lilt of the Latin" by Bennett will be included in the first portion of the concert.

Following intermission, the Townsend Band will play "The Free Lance March" by Sousa, the "Broadway Showstoppers Overture" arranged by Barker, and the "Radetsky March" by Strauss. A "Selection of Cole Porter Songs" arranged by Bennett, Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever," and "America, the Beautiful" will be performed before the band concludes its program a 9:30 by playing the "Star Spangled Banner."
