PEPPERELL -- Kaitlin Baker, of Townsend, will present a bassoon recital on June 9, at 3 p.m. at Lawrence Library, 15 Main St.

Admission is free. She will be joined by John Clark on piano and Joy Flemming on bassoon, in a program of classical and contemporary works.

The war-horse of bassoon solos, the melodious "Concerto for Bassoon" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, will be the featured work, with the "Sonata" by Paul Hindemith, "The Romance" by Edward Elgar, and the delightful and playful "Duettino for Two Bassoons" by Eugène Bozza, played together with Flemming, her teacher.

At 14, Baker has played bassoon for five years, and her command of this challenging instrument is superb. As Flemming puts it, "Kaitlin has been going through advanced bassoon literature like a house on fire! I keep putting sheet music in front of her, and she keeps us with all the complexities -- and always makes beautiful music."

If you love bassoon music or want to learn more about this instrument, if you love hearing young talented instrumentalists, please join us on this delightful afternoon for a concert that is suitable for all ages.
