TOWNSEND -- "Fiber Explorations." the new exhibit in Townsend Meeting Hall Gallery, will open on Feb. 8. The gallery, located in library/senior center complex, has hosted a wide variety of art exhibitions since the opening of the complex in 2009 It is open during library and senior center hours.

For "Fiber Explorations," artists have been challenged to seek out new uses for familiar materials, or to employ new materials in their work. A committee of five members oversees the hanging of art. In addition they often coordinate receptions that are held in conjunction with the exhibitions.

Art groups, as well as individual artists, have taken the opportunity to display their work on the walls of the large hall that is used for programs sponsored by the library and senior center. The complex, a gift to the Town of Townsend from Sterilite Corporation, continues to provide activities for the entertainment and enrichment of Townsend and surrounding towns.
