William E. May Endowment Award Dinner: The Friends of the Townsend Seniors have named Russ Moore as this year's award honoree. Tickets are still available at McNabb's Pharmacy and Bailey's Bar and Grille. The award dinner at Townsend Ridge Country Club is by reservation only. Townsend Rod and Gun Club Fall Fishing Derby: Registration begins at 7 a.m., derby 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the club pond, off of Emery Road on Dann Colburn Way, just off Route 13 in Townsend. There will be directional signs along the way. Entry fee is $15 for adults and is FREE for children under 12. Anglers can reregister for $10 after the three-fish limit. There will be prizes and drawings for the kids. The kitchen will be open at 7 a.m. for breakfast and also at lunchtime. The derby is open to all area adults and children and promises to be a fun-filled day! A fishing license is not needed. Fishing bait will not be sold, so be sure to stock up before the derby. Friends annual meeting: The Friends of the Townsend Public Library are gathering for its annual meeting with a potluck dinner from 6-8 p.m. at the Meeting Hall. We will have door prizes, a scavenger hunt and picture slide show of events we have sponsored in the past year. We will also have board member elections for the 2013 term. Emergency Management Shelter Training: Townsend Emergency Management will be hosting a training and information sessions for townspeople who wish to may assist with emergency sheltering operations. Service of Prayer and Healing: Townsend United Methodist Church, 7 p.m. All are welcome to this special worship time. The church is located at 265 Main St. in Townsend Center. As Christians, we believe God is the source of wholeness in our lives. We, therefore, gather for a time of prayer, seeking healing mentally, physically and spiritually for ourselves and others. Mystery dinner theater night: Ashby Elementary School Council will host a Dinner and Show, "Deadly Chateau Shenanigans," upstairs in the Ashby American Legion Hall at 5 p.m. Meet the actors and then, at 5:30, start dinner. Pot roast supper: The Townsend United Methodist Church will host a fall supper with continuous servings from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu features pot roast and potatoes, vegetables, salad, rolls and delicious desserts! You may eat-In or take-out. Ticket are adults, $10, seniors, $9, children, $6, and free for under 7. It's the perfect time to celebrate the beautiful fall season at the historic "Meetinghouse Church on the Hill" located at 265 Main Street in Townsend Center, at the junction of Routes 13 and 119. Townsend Congregational Church invites you to enjoy a Turkey Dinner with all the fixings on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 5-6:30 p.m. Tickets, available at the door, are $ 10 for adults and $4 for children ages 3 through 8. As always, children under 3 eat free! Dinners are also available for take-out.
