Demonstrations by talented artisans and crafters as well as live music will make the 31st year of the Townsend Historical Society's Annual Arts and Crafts Fair a memorable event. Everyone's invited to come and enjoy the two-day fair Sept. 15-16 on Townsend's historic common.
Demonstrations will include jewelry-making, quilling, paper-folding, and wool felting, to name just a few. Children can make their own crafts throughout the weekend.
"Jeffjam," the popular children's performer, will start the music on Saturday at 11 a.m., followed by the beautiful music of Oivan Ilo, the talented Finnish folk band. Those who have enjoyed the Saturday performances of "Rubber Soul" at Bailey's Bar and Grill will be pleased to know the Beatle's cover band will take the gazebo at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Formed two years ago, this is the first year "Rubber Soul" will be performing at the fair. Members are Jim Willard (singer), L. Barbar (guitar), Mike Lavoie (guitar), Paul Bradley (bass), and Rob Walsh (drums). The Townsend Military band will hold a band concert on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. The concert will be sponsored by the Townsend Historical Society.
The Townsend Community Couples' Club and the Townsend Historical Society will be preparing and selling a variety of foods and baked treats both days.
A full schedule of times, demonstrations, locations and performances will be posted on the Common that weekend. For more, call 978-597-2106 or email townsendhistoricalsociety@yahoo.com
