The Friends of the Townsend Seniors and The William E. May Endowment Fund Committee have named Russ Moore as the 2012 William E. May Endowment honoree. The annual Endowment Award recognizes and honors a person for their commitment and unselfish acts of kindness to the well-being and quality of life for the residents of Townsend.

Nominations for the 2012 award were submitted this spring and the Endowment Committee selected Russ Moore for his commitment and genuine interest to the town of Townsend. Russ has worked to promote various organizations, activities and programs to benefit and improve the lives of citizens of all ages throughout the community.

Russ was very active with Townsend Boy Scouts and Little League and he helped with the 275th Anniversary Parade. His memberships and support include: American Legion Miller Terrell Post 199; Townsend VFW Post 6538, where he served as Commander and Quarter Master; TEO ; and the Friends of the Townsend Seniors where he served as President and Treasurer. The seniors in Townsend and surrounding communities recognize Russ as one of the people who helps organize the enjoyable bus trips!
