TOWNSEND -- The Townsend Rod and Gun Club will host a lawn party at the Townsend Military Band's Thursday, July 5, evening concert on the common. Rod and Gun Club members will be selling sausages with peppers and onions, hot dogs, fried dough, cotton candy and popcorn to hungry concertgoers. Root beer floats, soda and water will also be available.

Numerous activities for children will be set up on the Common during the concert including a lasso-the-animal game, a scavenger hunt, a bean bag toss, a soda-bottle ring toss and a fishing game.

The Townsend Military band will begin its program at 7:30 p.m. with a fanfare, "Sea Songs by Vaughn Williams and Grainger's Irish Tune. Selections from Osser, Debussy, Sousa and others will be performed during the first half.

Following intermission selections by Fillmore and Ponchielli will be played. Leroy Anderson's "Irish Washerwoman" and "Italian Festival" are also being performed, along with patriotic selections "Semper Fidelis" march, "America the Beautiful," and "The Star Spangled Banner" to conclude the evening.
