TOWNSEND -- Selectmen have signed a short term 1.5 percent low interest loan with First Southwest Company to begin payment on $825,000 for the town's new aerial ladder truck.

The end date for the loan is July 23, after which other funding will be sought.

The truck was delivered June 15.

"It's a big red truck that folks will be seeing around town," town administrator Gregory Barnes told selectmen. -- Don Eriksson
