HARVARD -- It is time to start thinking about baseball! Harvard Baseball has worked with AtBats and The Sports Hub in Leominster to put together a program to prepare ball players for the spring. The program will consist of six sessions ending just before in-town ball starts.
Below are the times that each group will be scheduled. Please note that due to expected higher enrollment, some of the groups have more than one session. Players will be assigned to one time slot only per week.
At Bats, Boxboro (every Saturday, Feb. 25 through March 31)
Rookies: 1 to 2 p.m. or 2 to 3* p.m.
Minors: noon to 1 p.m. or 1 to 2 p.m.*
T-Ball: 2 to 3 p.m.
The Sports Hub, Leominster (every Tuesday, March 5 through April 9)
Majors: 6:30 to 8 p.m.
*Times may change by one hour depending on registration numbers. We are going to rent out three cages and focus on throwing/pitching, catching, hitting and fielding. Register at www.harvardbaseball.org.
We have hired two "pros" this year to work with the players: Steven Santucci and Tommy Kamartaris. As with the regular season, we will also be looking for parents to help out. This is a great opportunity for the parents to learn from the "pros" as well.
The cost for the six-week program is $100 per player. (This is a discounted rate compared to the At Bats program.)
We anticipate this program filling up quickly, so please make an effort to sign up as soon as possible.
We have scheduled Major and Minor league tryouts at AtBats for two consecutive Fridays, March 8 and March 15 from 4 to 8 p.m.
It is required that your child attend one of the sessions. We will be contacting you with details regarding tryouts, including scheduling, league philosophy and placement.
