In an extra-inning nail-biter, the Townsend Astros defeated the Fitchburg Red Sox 4-3 to claim the Central Mass Over-40 Baseball League championship. The walk-off win came when second baseman Jim MacDonald was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in the winning run.

First baseman Jim Arthur led the hitting attach with a single and home run, while team player/manager Leo LeClair chipped in with a single, double and run scored. Pitcher Chris Dube went the distance for the win.

The championship was a highlight for a team that went winless in its inaugural season five years ago. With the season behind them, the Townsend Astros would like to thank all individuals who helped them, especially the Bull Run and Bailey's Bar and Grille for their generous financial support.
