On a beautiful Thursday night, June 28, at Shoppe Field in Townsend, North Middlesex's Tyler MacDonald crushed two doubles, got on base all four times, and scored a run as the NM Senior Babe Ruth team defeated Lunenburg by the score of 7-3 to raise its record to 7-1 in Montachusett League action.
Ashby's Nick Barry was also perfect on the day with a pair of singles, an RBI-producing double, and two runs scored.
Paul Walter (two hits, run scored, RBI) Kevin Powell (double), Kevin Quin (single, run scored), Mike Powell (single, run scored, RBI) and Chris Canning ( single, run scored) all contributed to the offense.
Groton's Johnny Lamont (five innings) and Townsend's Kevin Quin (two innings ) split the duty on the mound.
North Middlesex remains on top of the league with a one-game edge over Leominster (6-2).
"The boys are enjoying themselves and enjoying baseball. We are proud of them all," said manager Jim Canning.
"All the teams are tough to play," said Canning. "They all seem to have good pitching."
NM's only loss to date was a resounding defeat at the hands of a good team from St. Bernard's.
