SHIRLEY -- Only two weeks to go before summer's biggest bash!
St. Anthony's Parish Bazaar in Shirley will be held this year on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2 and 3. For decades now, St. Anthony's has been the place to be on the first weekend of August.
You might even say it is the community social event of the year!
This year, the bazaar will kick off with the traditional lobster and clam dinners beginning on Friday at 5 p.m. In true New England fashion, we will have corn-on-the-cob as a side dish along with great camaraderie and laughter.
As always, there will be plenty of other foods available, including seafood chowder on Friday night and chili on Saturday night, hot dogs, hamburgers and sausages as well as delectable homemade desserts.
On Saturday, the culinary feast continues with chicken cooked over the grill, accompanied by coleslaw, New England baked beans and rolls.
Of course, the food is only the beginning of each evening. The fun continues with games and challenges for all ages, including Kiddie Land games for the littlest ones, and chug-a-lug for those over age 18.
Everyone is sure to be a winner at whatever game or booth you choose. The White Elephant tables will be set up in the Religious Education Center and will have separate rooms for glassware and kitchen, books, pictures and CDs, electrical, holidays, home décor, and children's items. There are incredible bargains to be had on both new and gently used items.
Stop by and choose your bargain.
