Ham and bean supper

On Saturday, Feb. 23, the United Church of Shirley will host a Ham and Bean Supper with scalloped potatoes, corn bread, salad bar and a dessert bar.

Tickets will be on sale at the door for $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12 and children ages 5 and under will be free. The meal will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. in the church's fellowship hall at 4 Lancaster Road in Shirley.

Learn the art of making a rag rug

If you know how to crochet, Leone Noddin, a well known rug maker, can help you discover the art of rag rug making.

She will be teaching an eight-week class on Mondays from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Shirley Senior Center. It will run from Feb. 4 through March 25. It's a great way to spend a winter's morning with friends, hot coffee and learning a new craft.

The class will show experienced crocheters how to design and make beautiful rag rugs for the floor and the wall. The class will be limited to 8 people so be sure to sign up fast.

Well adult clinic

Nashoba Associated Boards of Health, in conjunction with the Shirley Board of Health, announces that a Well Adult Clinic will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 9:30-11 a.m. at Shaker Meadows, 32 Harvard Road. Drop in for blood pressure, pulse screening and diet teaching. No appointment is necessary. A parking ban remains in effect from Nov. 15 through April 15. Property owners are responsible for their sidewalk, walkway or driveway to be clear of snow and ice even if caused by a snow plow.
