WESTFORD -- Thandile Jackson of Shirley has been selected as a Student of the Month for November at Nashoba Valley Technical High School.
Thandile, daughter of Marcus and Lee Jackson, is a junior in the Cosmetology program. She is an honor-roll student who is involved in many aspects of Nashoba Tech. She is on the National Honor Society, SkillsUSA, the cast of the school musical, the volleyball team and the staff of the school newspaper, writing the cover story, "The Road to College," for The Viking Voice's first edition of the year.
She is also a Kick-Off Mentor, helping freshmen make the transition into high school. Thandile is hoping to attend college to study either Biology of Biomedicine, and has visited Howard University, Georgetown University, George Washington University and Johns Hopkins University.
She was nominated by Science instructor Jean Manes, who wrote: "Thandi is a very diligent, hard-working student. She completes all her work on time, and stays after when she needs help. ... She has a positive attitude even when she encounters difficult material. She is always very polite when addressing me or asking me a question. She is also willing to help out a classmate who is struggling."
That was seconded by Cosmetology Instructor Donna McMahon, who wrote: "She is a morale builder and team player who works very hard in Cosmetology. Thandi is a positive role model who is very active in the Nashoba Tech community. I wish we could clone her as
