Christmas Fair: Christmas Fair at the United Church of Shirley. This annual event will include a crafts table, baked goods and raffle baskets on the main floor. In the basement will be bargain items including housewares, toys, and clothes. The snack bar will have something for both breakfast and lunch. The fair will open at 9 a.m. and close at 2 p.m. The United Church is located at the corner of Lancaster and Harvard roads in Shirley Village and all are welcome.

SUNDAY, NOV. 18

Sunday breakfast: The Ayer Sportsman's Club resumes its Sunday Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m., until Mother's Day. The breakfast menu includes pancakes, French toast, omelets, sausage, bacon and ham, and free coffee and juice. Full breakfast $7. Orders-to-go also available. Proceeds benefit the children's fund. Christmas Extravaganza Craft Fair

St. Anthony of Padua Church in Shirley will be holding its annual Christmas Extravaganza Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parish hall.

The craft fair has become a popular venue for Christmas shopping in the area, with talented crafters from all over Massachusetts. The selection of handmade crafts is extensive and includes woodcrafts, quilted items, country crafts, many Christmas items, glassware, jewelry, cookie walk and much more.

In addition to the crafts, a small portion of the hall is dedicated to new children's toys, books, games, puzzles and gently used Christmas decorations and gifts.

Breakfast and lunch will be served.

A Special Election will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Town Hall. The last day to register to vote in this election was Saturday, Oct. 27. The Town Clerk's office will be open between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. for registration.

Household hazardous waste collection

Shirley residents may bring hazardous materials for disposal to the Devens Regional Household Hazardous Products Collection Center at 9 Cook St. (rear) on the first Wednesday and following Saturday of each month (Dec. 5 and 8), from 9 a.m. to noon, except for holidays and weather-permitting.

The cost for residents is $20 for up to five gallons or five pounds of material.

Businesses must pre-register.
