The Shirley Senior Center will host painting and drawing workshops taught by Marjorie Vaudreuil, an artist and art teacher who recently moved to Shirley. They will be held from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturdays, Nov. 3, 10 and 17. The cost is $10 per class ($30 per workshop). Bring your own supplies.
Vaudreuil trained in the 1980s at the New England School of Art in Boston and took advanced classes at Boston University, the DeCordova Museum and AB Community Education. She brings a great enthusiasm for all art forms and a gentle and wonderful approach for anyone interested in learning the advanced techniques that she has to offer.
Two types of workshops will be available:
November: Freestyle medium -- drawing from observation
Supplies: Choice of charcoal (vine or pencil set, kneadable erasers, white eraser, pad of paper, either newsprint, white, colored, or black. (12x16 or 18x24). If black, white pastel is needed.
December: Freestyle Christmas gifts: Draw/paint a gift for your loved one from photo or still life, Flowers, people or animal portraits, drawing from photos of local areas.
Supplies: Your choice of medium and materials (no odorous solvents or oil paints).
These workshops will be on Dec. 1, 8 and 15. The class will be 2 1/2 to 3 hours long. If you would like to try the workshop but are unable to afford the price, please contact the COA Director. We have funds available.
