AYER -- Detectives from surrounding towns compare notes. When Townsend Police noted that a local business reported receipt of laptop computers that appeared to be from outstanding Ayer police cases, Ayer Detective Kellie Barhight took note.

The Townsend Police investigation also noted laptop computers that matched descriptions from other outstanding breaking-and-entering cases in other towns. Warrants resulted from the find, leading Ayer police Officer Richard Krasinskas to arrest 26-year-old Nicholas Dubrule of Shirley off Main Street in Ayer on Aug. 24.

When arrested, Dubrule allegedly had a switchblade knife in his possession. In addition to the warrant arrest, Dubrule was further charged with carrying a dangerous weapon.

Dubrule was arraigned on Aug. 27 and returns to Ayer District Court for a pretrial conference on Sept. 26.
