PEPPERELL -- The Fire Department's EMS company will be hosting a comedy night fundraiser on Nov. 8 to help defray the costs of necessary equipment to keep services running.

Rachel Casazza said the company is counting on the money raised from the fundraiser to support operations of the town's emergency medical services.

"The money will help provide the ambulance service in town with funds that we can use to purchase equipment, keep our on-call volunteer employees staffed with proper attire, and give back to the community by supporting other programs," Casazza said.

The comedy night will be held at the Pepperell VFW. Complementary refreshments will be served from 7 to 8 p.m., and the comedy show will be from 8 to 11 p.m.

Three comedians will perform, although the lineup has not yet been finalized. Attendees will be able to buy raffle tickets for baskets and prizes donated by various local businesses.

Tickets will cost $15 in advance or $20 at the door, and will be available for sale through the Fire Department or EMS members.

Last year, Casazza said, the fundraiser brought in nearly $2,000. This year, the company has raised its goal to $3,000. This money is critical to allowing the company to provide services to the town, she said.

"They have a huge impact. We haven't had many fundraisers in the past few years. The only other funds that we have for equipment usually come from grants or we pay out of pocket, as well as donating our time to do CPR classes for the town," Casazza said.

Casazza encouraged residents to attend, whether or not they have any involvement with the Fire Department or EMS company.

"It is a lot of fun. Last year we had a great time," she said. "By attending, you're giving back to us, which will allow us to give back to the community in a way that we can provide better care and prompt responses to community needs."
