Well adult clinics

Nashoba Associated Boards of Health, in conjunction with the Pepperell Board of Health, announces that a Well Adult Clinic will be held Wednesdays, Sept. 4 and 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Senior Center on Senior Center Road (off 37 Nashua Road Route 111). Drop in for blood pressure, pulse screening and diet teaching. No appointment is necessary. Apple pie contest

The Hollis Woman's club is sponsoring an Apple Pie Contest at Hollis Old Home Days on Sept. 21. Bake and bring your best home-cooked apple pie, no entry fee. Claim the first-place ribbon in your age division and win a cash prize! After judging everyone can buy a slice.

Contest Rules

1. Only one entry per person.

2. No entry fee.

3. Entry must be home-prepared, traditional two-crust apple pie -- no mixes.

4. All entries must be submitted to Apple Pie Contest tent by 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, for judging.

5. Recipe should accompany entry: Specifying variety/varieties of apples used.

6. Decision of judges will be final.

7. All pies become property of the Hollis Woman's Club and will be cut and sold by the piece following judging.

8. Three entry divisions: Children (up to age 12), students (ages 13 to 21) and adult (ages 22+).

9. Judging is at 11:30 a.m. Ribbons and cash prizes awarded for first-, second-, and third-place (only) in each division.
