GROTON -- On Sunday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m., Gary Shattuck will present a slide lecture about his soon-to-be published book on the role his ancestor, Job Shattuck, and the town of Groton played in the events that history has come to call Shays' Rebellion.

In the course of his extensive research, Shattuck has uncovered some remarkable primary-source material that sheds new light on Groton's participation in the so-called rebellion and compels us to carefully reconsider what has been the traditional 20th-century interpretation of that event.

The event will be held in the MacNeil Lounge at Lawrence Academy, Powder House Road.

Thanks to a grant from the Commissioners of Groton Trust Funds, this event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For information or in the event of an ominous weather forecast, call 978-448-2541.
