PEPPERELL -- The fresh smell of live greens filled the Community Center on Saturday, Dec. 1. Pepperell Garden Club members, led by club president Lisa Moran, gathered for their annual wreath-making workshop. Each year club members spend the morning not only making their own wreaths but also the wreaths that will decorate the town for the holiday season.
This year the club decorated 12 wreaths of various sizes. The two largest wreaths, 2 feet in diameter, now adorn both sides of the covered bridge. Garden Club members also created a 3-foot wreath for the Highway Department on Jersey Street, and a 30-inch wreath for the main fire station. Park Street fire station was not forgotten. It received a pretty 18-inch wreath.
As you drive by town hall, notice the two exquisite 2-foot holiday wreaths adorned with gold balls and burgundy bows on the front doors. The club also hung wreaths at the post office and police station. The Community Center and the Senior Center are looking spiffy as well with their new wreaths. Members also decorated many of the planters around town with live greens from their own backyards.
The Garden Club cannot take all the credit, as the Highway Department lends a hand by hanging the wreaths on the Covered Bridge each year.
The Pepperell Garden Club donated $500 to purchase the basic wreaths and in turn, creates the decorated wreaths with additional natural materials, ribbons, and
