Ken Hartlage ~ Along the Nissitissit, reception: Pepperell photographer Ken Hartlage has created a photo essay of the Nissitissit River and its natural history. The Nissitissit, which flows nine miles from Lake Potanipo in Brookline, N.H., to the Nashua River in Pepperell, is known far and wide by fly fisherman. It is also enjoyed by many for its pleasant river-side trails and swimming holes. Ken has been photographing the Nissitissit for the past seven years, and in this show he shares some of his favorite images taken along the length of the river and across four seasons. Stop by from noon to 2 p.m. to meet Ken. Light refreshments will be served, sponsored by the Friends of the Library. The show will run through Nov. 24, at the Lawrence Library Art Gallery, 15 Main St.
Mystery dinner theater night: Ashby Elementary School Council will host a Dinner and Show, "Deadly Chateau Shenanigans," upstairs in the Ashby American Legion Hall at 5 p.m. Meet the actors and then, at 5:30, start dinner. Halloween Costume Extravaganza to benefit the Pepperell 4th of July celebration: The Pepperell 4th of July Committee will host a Halloween Party and Costume Extravaganza from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Pepperell VFW on Leighton Street. The party is an 18+ event featuring food, costume contests, prizes, raffles, "scaryoke," and dancing. Grange Halloween: The Prescott Grange will host a Halloween Party from 5-8 p.m. at Prescott Grange Hall on Park Street. The party will feature games, a haunted walk through the woods behind Grange Hall, and other activities as well as snacks and beverage for purchase.
Donation for the party is $5. The public is invited to come.
The Grange's monthly community dinner will also take place the same evening on the lower level of the Grange Hall from 5-7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available at the door.

Special Fall Town Meeting
The Board of Selectmen has called for a Special Town Meeting on Monday, Oct. 29, (and Tuesday, Oct. 30, if needed) at the Nissitissit Middle School beginning at 7:30 p.m.

POLICE CRUISER
To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, appropriate from available funds, or borrow a sum not to exceed $36,000 for the purpose of purchasing and equipping one (1) police cruiser, along with any related equipment and expenses, this appropriation to be under the control of the Chief of Police, and to allow for the disposal of a used police vehicle by trade, transfer or sale; or take any other action relative thereto.

GENERATOR FOR HIGHWAY GARAGE
To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or appropriate from available funds the sum of $19,500 for the purchase and installation of a generator at the Highway Department garage; said appropriation to be under the control of the Highway Superintendent; or take any other action relative thereto.

BRUSH CHIPPER FOR HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT
To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or appropriate from available funds the sum of $47,560 for the purchase of a new or good used brush chipper for the Highway Department; said appropriation to be under the control of the Highway Superintendent; or take any other action relative thereto.

Halloween in Pepperell
The Pepperell Police Department will have extra neighborhood patrols out between 6-8 p.m. on the evening of Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31, to help ensure an enjoyable and safe time for the town's younger residents.
Armed Forces Appreciation Dinner
The Pepperell Army Community Covenant and Operation Patriot Pride will host an Armed Forces Appreciation Dinner on Friday, Nov. 9, from 6-8 p.m. at the Pepperell Senior Center.
The event will feature a complimentary buffet dinner for Pepperell's past and present warriors and their families catered by the Devens Grill. See flyer
