PEPPERELL -- The Pepperell Skate Park Committee invites residents to a day of skateboarding, rock 'n' roll and classic cars Saturday, June 27, from noon to 5 p.m. at town field.

Sponsored by Eastern Boarder, the Second Annual Skate Park Competition will feature a skateboarding competition open to skateboarders of all ages, with prizes donated by the sponsor. In addition, there are activities for everyone, including a classic car show, food from Chef on Wheels and live rock music from local favorite Mumblefish.

"When we started working on last year's event, we had no idea how the community would respond," Skatepark Committee member Deb Hayes said. "The response was overwhelming, with a great skateboard competition featuring skaters of all ages and lots of people coming by to watch the skaters, check out the classic cars and enjoy the live music. This year, we're hoping to attract even more of the community as a thank-you for their continued support."

The Pepperell Skate Park Committee was set up to raise the funds to build and manage the Pepperell Skate Park and the surrounding landscaping. The committee also arranges competitions for local skaters because there are not a lot of skating competitions nearby, and it gives local skaters a chance to show their stuff.

Hayes said the committee is always looking for volunteers, sponsors, and donations.

"Right now, the park is pretty self-sufficient. The kids take great care of it, but there is always

landscaping that needs to be done in the spring and fall. Since we don't charge for using the park, donations are always welcome," she said.
