Groton Local members and Groton School students (football team), faculty members, and dining service professionals co-sponsored September's Groton Community Dinner at First Parish Church of Groton. It was fresh, locally sourced and prepared: a hearty fall meal for a "drismal" night.
Multi-generational volunteers set up, served and cleaned up (lots of dishes). "Blue Taxi" trio provided live music for diners' enjoyment.
Generous local businesses donated food: Gary's Farm Stand gave fresh potatoes, kale, tomatoes and onions; Johnson's Drive-In Restaurant gave vanilla ice cream; Groton School gave chicken, baguettes, salad and apple crisp. Thanks to all of them -- please support them with your business and good will.
If you'd like to know more about volunteering, donating, or attending, please visit grotoncommunitydinners.org. The next meal will take place at First Parish Church of Groton, located at 1 Powderhouse Road (across Main Street from Groton Public Library) on Friday, Oct. 26; doors open at 5:45 p.m., and dinner is served from 6 to 7 p.m. All are welcome.
