I was reading the article in the Townsend Times on Friday, Feb. 26, titled, "Cut raises, not programs." I found the article to be very interesting and informative.
There are some point that I would like to bring up in regards to the article.
First, we are paying Superintendent Dr. Marshall a salary of $195,000. Granted that at the present time we are sharing her with Quabbin Regional and they are paying half her salary but if we weren't sharing her, North Middlesex would be paying the full share of her salary. Take the $195,000 for Dr. Marshall's salary and the salaries of the four administrators that make over $100,000, and it amounts to over a HALF MILLION DOLLARS and that doesn't even include the teachers salaries. How do these salaries compare with other salaries in our area?
Another point: By Dr. Marshall's own admission, in the next decade the attendance at North Middlesex will decreased by close to 1,000 students yet the attendance at Nashoba Tech is increasing by 7 to 10 percent each year, according to published reports. Has anyone taken the time to look into why North Middlesex is losing students? I have talked to several Townsend residents and they have given me a couple of good reasons.
I feel that Dr. Marshall is grossly overpaid and does not fulfill her job requirements as superintendent of North Middlesex Regional Schools.
It is no longer about the students: It is all about how much money I can make.
