I am writing to voice my support for Barry Pease, who is running for one of the two open seats on the Board of Selectmen.
In my opinion, Barry represents a big piece of the demographic that is Groton. He is in his prime working years, has two children that he is raising along with his wife, and has much energy to contribute to causes he feels passionate about. Two of those causes are the town of Groton and the education of our children.
Currently, there is no member of the Board of Selectmen who has children going through the Groton-Dunstable school system. They are all past that stage. I think it is important to have someone on the board who will represent the "typical families" of Groton.
Barry is very level-headed and has no hidden agendas. He simply wants to make Groton the best town it can be. He is very willing to listen to new ideas and look at both sides of an issue. Since he has been attending the BOS meetings regularly, and was on the Town Meeting Review Study Committee, he has a good understanding of how town government works.
Currently, four out of our five selectmen have been selectmen for years and years and years. We need new leadership. We need someone with new ideas and a new perspective.
For these reasons, I am supporting Barry Pease for selectman. I hope that you will join me in supporting him. Election day is May 20.
