The Boston Strong 2.62 Benefit Run in Winchendon will benefit the fund Brittany Loring has set up. (Brittany Loring is from Ayer.)
We will be having 103.3 AMP radio as part of our event this year. We will also have a free kids run after the 2.62 benefit run ends with a bouncy house and kids activities.
We hope you can join us this year for the second Boston Strong 2.62 Mile Benefit Run in Winchendon. Please take a moment and read the story about this years event!
Working hard and focusing on her studies, Brittany Loring decided that on her birthday she would relax a little and spend the day with friends. Looking for a laid-back day, cheering on runners and enjoying a beautiful spring day, she could not have known that what had started as a fun and cheerful day would end in tragedy and despair.
Brittany's 29th birthday was on April 15, 2013. She was among the many injured by the first explosion near the finish line of the Boston Marathon that day. As the whole country watched in disbelief, for Brittany and many others dealing with serious injuries, physical as well as psychological, became an instant reality.
Brittany underwent three surgeries to close the wounds on her legs and was treated for a skull fracture and concussion. After months of physical and occupational therapy, Brittany was still dealing with limitations from her injuries, but that did not stop her from wanting to help other victims of the marathon bombing.
She set up a fund to help those in need with their medical expenses and psychological care. All money raised by the 2014 Boston Strong 2.62 Mile Benefit Run will be donated to this fund to directly help those victims.
We are hoping Brittany will be allowed to run by April 12, but regardless, she will be joining us in Winchendon to say a personal thank you to all of you for your support.
Let's get it done again, Winchendon!
