Little did I know that the first person I would meet when I moved to Townsend in 1965 would become my brother-in-law. That was Roy Shepherd.

Roy said the prayer when Peg and I were married 29 years ago. We became friends and I saw him as few others had a chance. I saw him relax. Roy, Nancy, Peg and I spent 14 days touring Alaska. We toured the Canadian Maritimes in our campers and did the Cabot Trail in our truck camper.

The four of us, plus his brother Bill and wife, Fran, spent several days over several years camped at Salisbury State Park, where we went to antique shops and walked the beach on Plum Island.

He was a good friend, a thoughtful and knowledgeable companion.

Thanks Roy for allowing me to enter your life,

HUGH FOWLER
