The Groton Firefighters Association would like to invite everyone to the annual Labor Day Muster and Barbecue, which will be held at the H&V Field, located at 250 Townsend Road, in West Groton.
We would like to thank H&V for their continued support of this event, as they have been allowing various associations within the Fire Department to hold the Labor Day activities on their field for many, many years.
The day starts at 11 a.m. with a parade of emergency vehicles, old and new. The parade moves slowly from the Senior Center on West Main Street and continues onto the field on Townsend Road. Come see the trucks and listen to all of the noise they can make!
Beginning at noon, there will be food available to purchase. Once again, we will be cooking chicken using the famous, yet secret, recipe of barbecue sauce that people coming to the muster have raved about for years.
We will also have hamburgers, hotdogs, sausages, fried dough and various other treats ... there will be something for everyone!
Once the trucks arrive at the field, we will have entertainment for young and old, whether it is listening to music, climbing part-way up the ladder on the ladder truck or trying to knock "flames" down with water from a fire hose.
Muster games performed by firefighters will begin at 12:30. Come cheer on the various teams as they race to connect a hose and get water to a target, followed by a game similar to volleyball, but with fire hoses and lots of water!
So, mark the unofficial end of summer with members of your family, your neighbors and the members of the Groton Firefighters Association at the Labor Day Muster and Barbecue.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
