Unfortunately, it is hard to find someone that has not been affected by cancer in some way these days. My grandpa is a cancer survivor, my aunt and uncle are currently fighting cancer, and this past May one of my best friends, Samantha, lost her battle with clear cell sarcoma and passed away at only 21 years old. Watching her fight cancer has inspired me to make a difference in any way that I can. She was the most amazing person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and I cannot wait until the day that the world is finally cancer free and no one has to suffer or lose loved ones to this disease anymore.

Relay for Life is held at Bryant University's track on April 12-13. It is an overnight event that signifies different stages of the fight against cancer that a patient experiences while undergoing treatment.

I am dedicating my Relay for Life to Samantha this year and I hope that you will consider supporting me in this wonderful cause that is so close to my heart! Relay for Life was Samantha's favorite campus event and it will be so hard to be there without her this year but I know that she will be proud of everything that I, and my team, are doing in honor of her as we participate in our final Relay for Life at Bryant!

I am on the committee for both Colleges Against Cancer and Relay for Life at Bryant and have been for the past four years. When I joined these organizations as a freshman, I didn't know much about the disease or how I would be able to make a difference; I just joined because my grandfather is a sarcoma survivor, so it seemed like an appropriate cause to support. Since then, and especially with my aunt, uncle and Samantha's diagnoses, I have become extremely involved in numerous American Cancer Society events on and off campus. I have discovered a true passion that I have for making an impact in the fight against cancer and the two clubs I joined freshman year have become a huge part of my life. I am working with the American Cancer Society for my honors capstone project this year, performing research and analysis about college Relay for Life events and how they can improve in order to increase fundraising levels. I plan to remain involved with the American Cancer Society and keep participating in other cancer awareness and fundraising events for many years to come.

I have tripled my fundraising goal from last year for this year's event and have been working extremely hard for this cause for the past year, so I truly hope that you are able to support me! Any donation is greatly appreciated, and I hope that you will be able to join me in the fight against cancer this year.
