It's time ... It's time that the property owner, business and residential, start getting their bailout.

Something needs to be done and it needs to be done at next year's BOS and tax classification meeting.

The property owners' "well" has run dry. It's time for the board to do the right thing and it needs to start now as you put the budget together.

The capital planning, finance and Board of Selectmen committees need to be pioneers in the field and come up with ideas that are tax saving for all property owners. We have many great minds on these committees and with all of you working together with new ideas and ways to save money for the town, a better town would be created.

We need to become a town that other towns look up to and somewhat envy. The world is changing fast and this is something that needs to be done now, not two years from now, not five years down the road. NOW.

We really do have a spending problem, not a revenue problem. There are thousands to be saved. Just look around, sometimes the hardest things to see are right in front of you.

The key to the money that you save is not to use it for town projects or things that departments WANT. Don't use it for wages, insurance, raises or other things that people have their hand out for. Use it only for lowering property taxes. It needs to start somewhere, the end result being at next year's tax classification meeting.

I think that anyone who has a good idea should put it in writing and bring it or sent it to the selectmen's office. I think that raise and appropriate articles at town meeting need to be done away with. It's gotten out of hand and is only another backdoor approach to robbing the taxpayers' pocket. Everyone needs to stop wasting money and start using some common sense, do the right thing, SAVE, SAVE ,SAVE.

We will soon have a school that will be hitting the taxpayer hard for years to come. I am glad for the students and also teachers because they will now have a school that they will be proud to be a part of. I would like to see the teachers and high school students submit some ideas and suggestions on ways the town could save money. Maybe it could even be a good class project.

I have lost a lot of faith in government doing the right thing ,but I still do have some hope left.

Happy new year.
