I read with interest this week's editorial and I thought long and hard about this answer.

I certainly don't believe in sensationalizing a video like that and I'm glad to hear that someone to whom the video was given gave it to a newspaper to publicize the vile act and help further the punishment of the culprit.

But my thought is that a picture is worth a thousand words. While a description of the hunters' repeated failed efforts to kill the deer could paint a picture, not like witnessing it on your news website.

I don't hunt and have to admit to often wondering if hunters kill animals in the most humane way. Do they often do something like this?

I think as a society we should witness acts like this in order to decide our positions on such things. Would it be difficult to watch? Yes, but not as difficult as it was for the poor deer to endure.
