The annual gigantic recycling day is fast approaching, Saturday, Oct. 20, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Ayer-Shirley Middle School. The event is free and open to all with a donation of nonperishable food for Loaves & Fishes.
Among the unique things we'll be recycling this year are tennis balls, chip bags, granola bar wrappers, Styrofoam, wood pellet/bird seed bags, wheelchairs, stuffed animals and bulky plastics.
But that's not all! We'll also take textiles (useable or not, as long as they are clean and dry), household goods, appliances, electronics, bicycles, books, construction materials, returnable bottles and cans, and paper and disks for shredding.
But that's not all! We'll also recycle hearing aids, athletic shoes, Livestrong bracelets, hard plastic cases from DVDs/CDs/cassettes, backpacks, belts, curtains, sporting goods and panty hose.
