HARVARD -- On Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6, the Bromfield Middle School Drama Club will present two one-act plays, "Hard Candy" by Jonathan Rand and "A Simple Task" by Alan Haehnel. While the shows have different authors, they both deal with the timely theme of interviewing for employment.

Rand describes "Hard Candy" as, "Job applicants at Banff Enterprises will do anything to claw their way up the corporate ladder. In a fast-paced series of hilarious interviews, the new recruits try every trick in the book -- from bribery, nepotism and the Old Boy Network to blackmail, seduction and mind control."

The second show, "A Simple Task," is described by its publisher in this way: "Empie has a simple first assignment at her new job: retrieve a box of merchandise for the boss. But what do you do when the box is blocked by a parade of confusing characters, your boss keeps changing identities, and your whole career starts to feel absurd?"

"Hard Candy" and "A Simple Task" are directed by Martha Brooks, with student directors, Daniel Jackson and Ben Senkowski, and will be presented in the Cronin Auditorium at The Bromfield School at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $8 for students/seniors. "Hard Candy" will be The Bromfield School's entry to the Massachusetts Middle School Drama Festival to be held at Weston Middle School on Saturday, April 27. Bromfield will perform at 3 p.m.
