Infant Storytime ~ Mother Goose on the Loose (no sign-up) - Ages 0 - 2: Mondays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Mother Goose on the Loose is an early literacy program that uses rhymes and songs to help pre-reading children get ready for reading. It incorporates music, movement, ritual, repetition, positive reinforcement, developmental tips, nursery rhymes, illustrations, puppets, musical instruments, colored scarves, and book reading into a fun-filled 45 minute session for infants to 2-year-olds and caregivers (older siblings also welcome). Ask to be put on the email list for last minute schedule changes.

Storytime for 2's & 3's (five-week session begins 9/19 ~ pre-registration required) - Ages 2 & 3: Wednesdays. This 20 to 30 minute interactive theme-based storytime includes songs, simple stories, feltboard stories, creative dramatics, and fingerplays appropriate for children aged 2 & 3 years old. Register now for the five-week fall session; that 5-week session begins on Sept. 19 and runs through Oct. 17. Pre-registration required: Limit of 12 children and their caregivers.

Art & Stories for 4's & 5's (no sign-up required) -- Ages 4 & 5 and up: Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 2 p.m.

This 30 to 45 minute program, appropriate for children ages 4 to 7, begins with a few longer picturebook stories, then ends with a process art project that encourages preschoolers to explore art materials in an open-ended, creative manner. Some weeks we'll also have storytelling with the library's puppets or feltboard stories - stories told with felt pieces! Ask to be put on the email list for last minute schedule changes.

Children's Programs

Lego Club - Ages 5 and up: Saturday, Sept. 22 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Come have fun building Lego creations with other Harvard Lego fans! Parents are encouraged to join in the fun & assist with supervision. Please see the Children's Librarian for more information and to pre-register.

Book Gobblers - Grades 1 through 5: Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 1:30 p.m.

Book Gobblers is the library's story program for older kids only - younger children not allowed! Come listen to selections from excellent chapter books, poetry by favorite poets, and explore longer picture books for older readers. Drop-in ~ come for the whole half hour, or stay for just one or two stories.

Family Movie Night! Movie is Rated PG - All Ages: Friday, Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m. We can't list the movie title here, due to licensing restrictions, but here is a hint: This recent movie is based upon a book by Dr. Seuss, featuring an environmentally responsible character with the voice of Danny DeVito. Popcorn and water will be served. Please pre-register, so we know how much popcorn to buy!

Bagels n' Books Group for 4th Graders: Monday, Oct. 22, from 4 to 4:45 p.m. (Group A) and Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 4 to 4:45 p.m. (Group J)

Bagels n' Books Group for 5th Graders: Monday, Oct. 15 from 4 to 4:45 p.m.

Bagels n' Books Group for 6th Graders: Monday, Oct. 29 from 4 to 4:45 p.m.

The third grade book is: "Almost Zero," by Nikki Grimes. The fourth grade book is: "Half Magic," by Edward Eager. The fifth grade book is: "Mr. and Mrs. Bunny - Detectives Extraordinaire!" by Polly Horvath. The sixth grade book is: "Flyte," by Angie Sage. Join this once-monthly book group for a lively book discussion and a yummy snack of bagels and cream cheese. Book group members should read all of the book prior to the group meeting. Sign up for a book group, and we will request for you a copy of the book we will be discussing. New members are welcome ~ spaces are limited for some groups. Teen Book Groups: Grades 7 - 9 and Grades 10 - 12 ~ Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The Teen Book Groups meet on one Tuesday a month; refreshments are served.  Book group members should read all of the book prior to the group meeting. Sign up for the book group, and we will request for you a copy of the book we will be discussing. New members are always welcome ~ please pre-register.

Adult Programs

The Brown Bag Book Club is held the third Wednesday of every month at noon. Drop-ins are welcome! The next meeting will be held on Sept. 19 in the Small Conference Room to discuss the following book: "Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China" by Jung Chang.
