The Harvard Cultural Council is accepting applications for Local Cultural Council grants to support programs that bring cultural activity to our community - and is also looking for new members! Organizations, schools and individuals with proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science projects encouraged to submit an application.

Applications are available at the Harvard library or online at www.massculturalcouncil.org . Submissions must be postmarked by Oct.15 and returned to the Harvard Cultural Council, PO Box 110, Harvard, MA 01451.

Mentors are available to help anyone wishing assistance with the process.

New HCC members are always welcome to help further the arts in Harvard through the HCC. Members must be residents of Harvard.

Last year, HCC awarded 14 LCC grants totaling $4,000 that provided cultural exposure to people in our community, from children to seniors, in a variety of genres with $3,870 is available to fund fiscal 2013 grant awards. The 2012 recipients included: Concerts at the Common, For Art's Sake, Harvard PTO (curriculum enrichment), Harvard Public Library (Wolf Talk and Solstice Sakbuts music programs), Harvard Community Theater, Nashoba Valley Concert Band

The Local Cultural Council Program, part of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, humanities, and sciences annually. Administered by 2,400 municipally appointed volunteers, the LCC network consists of 329 councils serving all 351 Massachusetts cities and towns.
