HARVARD -- As the Town Hall shuffle gets under way, the cable television crew is looking for new quarters. At Monday's Harvard School Committee meeting, Superintendent Joseph Connelly said it's increasingly looking like the television operation may move from the Old Library on Fairbank Street into the basement at the Bromfield Middle School.

"It's back on course," confirmed Connelly. "We hope that someday it will come to reality -- sooner rather than later. The Cable Committee continues to be interested in the space we have available."

While there is no foreseeable need for the space for classes in the future, Connelly said the Cable Television Committee wants assurances "they can build out without the threat of us saying we need the space back."

Connelly said the reciprocal relationship between television and the middle-school students could prove to be a "win win -- our kids could benefit immensely from having access to that equipment."

School Committee member Keith Cheveralls suggested the committee appoint a formal liaison to help explore the notion further. Selectmen have chosen Bill Johnson as its liaison to the project.

Cheveralls said to spare the cable television group any pressure, "I took the very strategic decision to take a step or two back." Cheveralls said the Cable Committee needed to "get comfortable with" the concept, and wanted to steer clear of "pushing them or pulling them in one way or another. The cable folk really needed

to figure it out for themselves."

Enthusiasm is building for the spot, however. Cheveralls said Facilities Manager Mark Force, Johnson and Building Inspector Gabe Vellante visited the space today to try to help "build a clear picture here."

Ultimately, Cheveralls suggested the Cable Committee is "definitely onboard" with the idea, pending the finding of funds to aide in the move.
