The 5th annual Bicycles Battling Cancer 100-mile ride will be going through Groton on Sunday, June 9.

This ride (not a race) is intended to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society.

You are invited to register as a rider (there are 33- and 73-mile options as well), but volunteers are also needed for the Groton rest stop, which will be at Groton School as well as for directing riders at key intersections.

The riders will come into Groton from Ayer, starting around 9:30, via Old Ayer Road, and then go over Peabody Street to Groton School. They will then head down Farmer's Row to Broadmeadow to the Rail Trail, which they will take to Hollis. On the way back, they will enter Groton on Pepperell Road and take the Route 225 bridge in West Groton to Shirley.

If you can volunteer your time from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., register at http://bit.ly/13BKQ2E (under the Get Involved tab, select Become a Volunteer).
