GROTON -- Come celebrate Earth Day with Groton Local on Sunday April 21, 1 to 5 p.m., rain or shine, inside historic Williams Barn, 160 Chicopee Row.
The gathering will include local environmental groups, craft demonstrations and artists. Gilson Greenhouses will be selling vegetable seedlings, and GL's Upcycle Group will be demonstrating what can be done with items we would have discarded. Learn how to save energy at home with Next Step Living or learn about hosting foreign students in your home with Educational Homestay program. Friends of Trees will be there with tree seedlings, and Bliss Bakery will be selling their goodies. Nashoba Paddler, Beekeeper Jen Reed, woodworker Peter Benedict, gemstone expert Steve Harmon of Lancaster Rocks and more will all be there. There will be a cold frame demo with Jeff Box answering questions about extending your growing season. NRWA and Friends of Willard Brook will tell about protecting our watershed areas.
The newly formed Groton Climate Action Group will be there to explain their programs and recruit new members. The newly formed Groton Local Kids will be filming a documentary that day, and they will be doing a "Worms for your Garden" project for all of the kids who attend.
And we will have a program of live music all day. Musical groups will include Becky and the Hit Men, the Salty Dogs, the Contra Banditos, and the Mighty Windbreakers. Stop by and join us at the Groton Local table to learn about future events, seminars, films and speakers we have planned for the coming year.
