SATURDAY, SEPT. 15

Public supper: Christian Union beings another year of public suppers from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu will consist of roast beef (roasted to perfection), mashed potatoes (real), vegetables, bread and butter and probably the most important (at least for me) is dessert, which will be strawberry shortcake. All for the price of $10 for adults, under 12 $5; under 6, free. This meal is served family-style, no reservations required and take-outs available by calling 978 448-3348 (on Sept. 15). The church is located on West Main Street (Route 225) across from the fire station. More information at 978-448-5480. Also available are tickets to the murder, mystery, comedy dinner theatre on Sept. 29 at $25.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 16

Guided Trail Hike: Join members of the Groton Trails Committee on a guided hike at 2 p.m. sharp. We will start out on the trails of Brooks Orchard, then hike to the top of Chestnut Hill, one of the two highest points in Groton, affording nice views. We will continue on to enjoy the trails of the Groton Hills conservation area. Our hike will take about one and one-half hours and is suitable for families with children. Dogs must be well behaved and leashed. Wear comfortable hiking shoes.

The hike will be held unless it is very stormy. Meet for the hike at Orchard Lane and park by the side of the road.

Annual Meeting and Elections Mountain Lakes Club: 2 p.m., Lost Lake Fire Station. All are welcome. There is a lot happening in our neighborhood at the moment. Please join us and be involved with our community. The Mountain Lakes Club was established in 1936 by summer residents in the Lost Lake area. It was incorporated as a non-profit organization and has continued to serve the neighborhood throughout the years. Run entirely by dedicated volunteers, the Mountain Lakes Club is now a year-round club that maintains Baby Beach and the Club Field and provides opportunities for the neighborhood to gather. The Mountain Lakes Club strives to keep the spirit of the neighborhood alive!

New Town Hall Hours

In an effort to make Town Hall more accessible to residents who work full time and cannot get to Town Hall during normal business hours, the Board of Selectmen has voted, effective Sept. 10, to change the Town Hall Hours as follows:

Monday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Murder, mystery dinner theater at the Christian Union Church

This comedy entitled "Murder, Mayhem and the Marshmallow Salad" will keep you roaring.

The date: Saturday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. Come, eat dinner with the actors/actresses. Menu includes appetizers, baked chicken breast dinner, dessert along with laughter (provided by you).

There is also audience participation. See if you can guess who the murderer might be.

Tickets must be purchased in advance for $25 per person. No refunds.
