Absentee ballots for the Thursday, Sept. 6, state primary election are now available at the town clerk's office.
Massachusetts allows voters to vote by absentee ballot if they: will be absent from their city or town on election day, and/or have a physical disability that prevents their voting at the polling place, and/or can not vote at the polls due to religious beliefs.
Wednesday, Sept. 5 at noon is the last day and hour to request an absentee ballot. Sample ballots can be viewed at www.townofgroton.org.
The voter-registration deadline for the state primary is Friday, Aug. 17, at 8 p.m. This applies to new voters only. Currently registered voters do not have to re-register.
