DUNSTABLE -- A 17-year-old Dunstable resident faces multiple charges after allegedly being caught in possession of stolen property after a brief foot chase by police officers.

The male suspect, whom police have declined to identify, lives on River Street. On June 18 at about 12:09 p.m., the Dunstable Police Department received a report of a suspicious subject entering the property at 395 River St. Upon arrival, the officers found the suspect walking down on the street and stopped him, according to Chief James Downes. Following a brief investigation, the suspect fled on foot.

The officers apprehended the suspect as he tried to run into a wooded and through a side yard of a neighborhood house and found him in possession of stolen property, Downes said. The suspect will be charged with burglary, malicious distraction, larceny of building, possession of burglary tools, according to Downes. The chief did not say to whom the stolen property belonged, but said there have been some burglary cases reported in the same neighborhood.

Officers Ryan Koles and Nicholas Papageoreiou will remain the investigating officers in this case. Downes said the Department thanks the alert resident who reported the suspicious activity.
