PEPPERELL -- A water main break shut down one side of Hollis Street (Route 111) Sunday as crews worked to repair the damage, police said. A passerby called police at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday to report water bubbling onto the road on Hollis Street near Conway Chevrolet, according to Lt. David Scott. Scott said one lane of the roadway was closed with an officer directing traffic as Water Department crews worked to fix the break. The repair was finished later that night, according to Scott. The cause of the water main break was unknown as of Monday night.
