The Townsend Historical Society's 33rd Annual Arts and Crafts Fair will be held on Townsend's historic town common on Sept. 13 and 14. The event opens at 9 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday, ending in the late afternoon. Everyone's invited to come and enjoy the two-day fair featuring beautiful hand-crafted products, demonstrations, live music and good food.
At least 50 artists, artisans and crafters will provide original work for visitors to view and purchase, from stained glass and woodwork, paintings and jewelry, to textiles and paper products. Several talented vendors will offer demonstrations of their work for the public to watch.
Live music for all ages will fill the common over the weekend, starting with "JeffJam" for younger children Saturday morning, followed by the Finnish folk group Oivan Ilo and continuing through to the Townsend Military Band concert on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The band concert will be sponsored by Tiny's Restaurant of Ayer, McNabb's Pharmacy, PC Lan, and Harbor Flyfishing.
The Townsend Community Couples' Club and the Townsend Historical Society will be working together, preparing and selling a variety of foods from the grill for breakfast and lunch and baked treats both days.
A full schedule of times, demonstrations, locations, and performances will be posted on the Common that weekend.
