SHIRLEY -- Who has already signed up to take part in Shirley's eighth annual Holdenwood Trail Run to benefit the Ayer Shirley Education Foundation?
More than 100 people have registered. They are people who work at the schools, students who attend the schools, parents of students, people who live in Shirley, people who live in neighboring towns, people who live far away, people who enjoy walking or running through scenic Shirley Center, and people who just enjoy walking or running.
For everyone who might fit into one of those categories, registration is now open online or by mailing in a registration form, which can be downloaded at holdenwoodtrailrun.org.
Those who register early receive a cap, which is donated by All Star Sports, and a long-sleeve race shirt. All those who take part receive a coupon for a complimentary beer or ice cream at the Bull Run Restaurant following the event.
Those who run the fastest in their age and gender category receive prizes from sports equipment businesses and other donors.
Those who participate by walking the course receive the benefits of a day spent enjoying the woods, fields and gardens of Shirley Center's Holdenwood.
As a result of the funds raised by the Trail Run, the students of Ayer and Shirley receive technology equipment, sponsorship of field trips, special events and classes, and much more.
