HARVARD -- Five people were sent to the hospital last Tuesday after a crash at the intersection of Slough Road and Massachusetts Avenue.

Sgt. James Babu said a 16-year-old Stow resident was in a Jeep with three other Harvard female juveniles traveling east on Slough Road when he failed to stop for a stop sign.

He hit Shirley resident Kimberly Houle, 53, as she was driving northbound on Massachusetts Avenue, Babu said.

Babu's investigation revealed that the driver was using his cell phone while driving. He faces six charges, including negligent operation, speeding, and using a mobile device as a person under 18.

Ambulances from Boxborough, Harvard and Ayer responded to the accident, which occurred at about 8:15 p.m.

Babu said the people in the Jeep had minor injuries, although one girl could have injuries that are a little more than minor. They were taken to Emerson Hospital.

He said Houle had more severe injuries, but thinks she will be OK. She was transported to Nashoba Valley Medical Center.
