Artists, crafters sought
Attention artists, artisans, and crafters! It's time to send in an application for the Townsend Historical Society's 33rd Annual Arts and Crafts Fair to be held Sept. 14 and 15. The fair is held on the beautiful Townsend Common, and both days there will be live music, demonstrations and food from the grill to attract visitors.
Spaces measure 10-foot-by-15-foot, and the fee is $55 for one or both days; $60 if applications are received after July 31.

The fair is juried to ensure all work is handmade.
Thursday band concerts
The Townsend Military band will perform a concert on the Townsend Common Thursdays this summer, starting at 7:30 p.m. and ending at 9:30 p.m. Before and during the concerts, lawn parties will be held on the common offering food and games, sponsored by local nonprofit groups. All are invited to attend!

Mushroom-growing workshop July 26
Join Fungi Ally for a hands-on workshop to learn the basics of growing gourmet and edible mushrooms in your backyard! We will discuss and implement three techniques you can use to grow a variety of mushrooms.
Growing mushrooms in woodchip beds, logs, stumps and totems will be demonstrated and participants will get the opportunity to DO them!

Special Town Meeting July 31
Selectmen have approved the warrant for the July 31 Special Town Meeting, with just one article, a nonbinding resolution opposing the natural gas pipeline proposed by Kinder Morgan Energy Partners. The meeting will be at 7 p.m., but a location hadn't yet been determined.
